Word medicine

“When two people learn to perfect one human relationship, they learn to drink the divine love from the well of all hearts.” Paramahansa Yoganada

Affirmations or positive thoughts and messages have influenced my personal growth. Initially I’ve sought out positive statements to overcome the damage of domestication. Don Miguel Ruiz (author of The Four Agreements) maintains that we enter this world as perfect beings of love and light and through the process of domestication we become jaded or damaged. At times when I’ve felt the slights of others I have turned to words of wisdom to remind me that I am a credible, loving and beautiful human being who deserves to be loved.

Today, the Sun and Chiron are prompting us to heal our wounds. I want to capitalise on this alignment and begin to share some of the affirmations that have supported me on my journey so far. I am referring to one of the books I have and it is called, “The Little Book of Word Medicine” by Lynette Gordon http://www.lynettegordon.com/New/Biography.htm. Each day I will open the book (intuitively) and offer an affirmation to support and guide us toward love and empowerment.

Another book I am reading is: “Chiron – The Rainbow Bridge between the Inner and Outer Planets.” This book was written by Barbara Hand Clow. This is a great read and offers incredible insight into this powerful little planetoid. I would like to suggest that Chiron is of the keys to our healing journey. When we tap into Chiron and work with this energy we are able to walk the bridge to our soul’s evolution. I am not discounting the influence of all of our inner and outer planets of course. Especially the Sun and Moon, however today is a great opportunity to access the presence of the “the wounded healer within” and acknowledge the scars upon our souls – let the healing begin!

Ironically, the first card chosen today is the Hierophant – the wounded healer. The Star is representative of my vulnerability and openness as I share my personal legacy with the world. The Hanged man is Prometheus offering the voluntary sacrifice and choosing to go with the flow. The Emperor crests this Neptunian spread with confidence and power taking back the right to live with freedom and passion.

For you, my friends and family own your frailties and scars but don’t allow them to own you. While they exist as a paragraph in a chapter they do not tell the story of your life. Your encyclopaedia of truth is in your hands. Love yourself and share your brilliance with the world.

Remember: our visions create our world!

Chiron expedition

The Moon is in Gemini which encourages communication. It’s a number six day of commitment and responsibility. If you are prepared to put in the labour your hard work will be rewarded and supported with the coupling of Mars and Jupiter. Today could be a great day to do business as the skies are supportive of new business encouraging growth and abundance. It is time to get focused if a contract needs to be signed.

I’m currently reading a book by Barbara Hand Clow entitled: Chiron: Rainbow bridge between inner and outer planets. Chiron is representative of the wounded part of us. He presents as a mythic creature; half man and half beast. With the recent eclipse season I’ve felt the need to explore my inner wound. Chiron identifies our deepest psychological wounds and offers how we may attempt to heal it/them.

Since Chiron’s sighting in 1977 the re-emergence of divination, homeopathic medicine, energy and crystal healing was prominent. This tiny planetoid orbits between Saturn and Uranus and as I mentioned previously is the archetype of healing and transformation. Chiron is an alchemist and healer, initiator, visionary, teacher of integrity and bravery. Behind the myth and legend of this tiny creature we are able to seek and discover our human potential.

We have discussed many planets and their influence upon us. The galaxy is unlimited. During our cosmic conversations over the next few weeks we will look a little closer at Chiron.

My Chiron is in Capricorn. The sea goat pulls himself out of the mire and slowly, diligently and strategically climbs the mountain. Throughout this arduous struggle he searches and learns so much about himself, eventually peeling away the layers that no longer fit. From my experience Capricorn learns his lessons the hard way. There is no tick and flick in his manual. And for many Sun sign Capricorns reading this column you are experiencing Pluto (transformation) on your identity and therefore must endure the public metamorphosis while you grapple with the changes to your world.

The Hierophant is indicative of our discussion. Truth through honest dialogue is the motto delivered by this wise teacher. The wheel of fortune offers a benefice joy and celebration – reward for our efforts. The star shines in all her glory – translucent beauty with a hell of a story. Look deeper into my soul and you will see the realm of integrity. I learn to create spiritual relationships with a glance and an open heart.

Hey Prudence

The Moon is in flamboyant Leo can bring a creative spark to the ongoing impasse between Mercury and Saturn. Deals done today could have a far-reaching implication or have a short term fix with a long term impact.

The reflective energy of the number seven day urges caution and solitude – contemplation rather than reaction or aggressive in any of our dealings.

Athena the Goddess of Justice is shrewd and aloof. She knows she has the moral high ground and so there is a lot of room for negotiation – on her terms of course.

The Hermit suggests that it is the perfect day for caution- stepping carefully around the minefield of our daily routine.

The hanged man grunts from the outpost of the tree of life, “give over will you and go with the damn flow! Stop the fussing about the reality of your situation and come and hang with me for a while.”

Death creeps in – such an ominous figure to my morning spread. Why should I see this as a portend of doom? One door closes and another one opens – isn’t that true? And yet we stand there peering out of the door – through the crack of discernment for a glimmer of hope.

The morning, ‘indicators’ are brightened by the entrance of Temperance; she is not buying into the nitty gritty or irrelevance. She takes me to an elevated perspective and focuses my attention on the higher ideals. Give it all you’ve got – the future looks bright beyond the ride.

She’s right you know? No matter what today brings tomorrow is another day. The disappointments of yesterday wash away during the morning ablutions.

Reality check – there is not disappointments only lessons in my “playbook”. This playground of life offers empirical lessons and remedies for scraped knees when you fall from the jungle gym.

Our path maybe littered with dog turds but you don’t have to step in them. You don’t have to pick it up and taste it to know that it is dog turd either.

Today is a day of looking beyond the poo patrol and considering the sun rise beyond the escarpment. Don’t buy into the bad hair days or others and refuse to engage with the moody blues.

Grab my hand and let’s skip down the yellow brick road. Bring your archetypes for a strong – it’s a weird world out there. Life is but a dream. Hey Prudence why don’t you come out to play?

Our best Year Yet!

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt

Today is the last day of April. Another month has flicked past at a great rate of knots. In the early hours of this morning I dreamt that I had just come home from a shopping spree and all of the clothes, shoes and hand bags were sprawled on my bed. I was trying on each new item and twirling around in excitement – delighted in the feeling of the new purchases. I felt alive, vibrant and did not wish to spoil the moment with fear or be inhibited by the desire to look and feel good. I wanted to present the most vivacious "Julia" to the world. My husband entered the room with a tall glass of crystal clear water and said, "if you drink this you will always remember this moment." I drank from the water and was infused with confidence. Smiling I said, "This is our best year of ever."

I came out of the dream this morning and reached for the water glass beside my bed and woke up remembering every aspect of the dream. Yes, this is going to best year ever! And I am not going to allow the recession or negative press messages of doom and gloom spoil that dream.

Last night before sleep I was reading my novel, "Holy Cow", by Sarah Macdonald. One of the final paragraphs was a positive reminder of my internal navigation system. Essentially the passage said, "In India we appreciate that we are not as poor or oppressed as the people beneath them but westerners are always craving more." I agree with this statement as we are constantly aspiring to reach someone else's dream or life purpose. Instead of taking stock and appreciating what we've got. Today I am grateful for what I have. I am also aware that my bounty is fathomless. I refuse to live by another person's agenda for I create my joy with my mind, words and actions.

The essence of a number nine day is empowerment, resolution and completion. This week of retreat has had many therapeutic benefices. One of the most potent remedies has been the deep healing within and the reminder of how powerful my dreams are. No one should treat on our dreams and we should take them with us in every step of our journey.

The same can be said for ensuring that our self esteem is positive and healthy. No one has the right to rob us of our confidence and impact on our self esteem. It doesn't matter how disillusioned they are with their life or personal disappointments we mustn't allow them to project their negative reflection on to us.

Today we must rise above the negativity and glide across the ocean mist of discontent and bask in the glory of our dreams – it is our best year yet!
